Jennifer Lopez was fine (far more lifelike and definitely more adept with comedy than Carrie Underwood) and worked well as a woman Barney would go to great lengths to bed.(*)

Jennifer Lopez has become the latest star to appear on hit comedy show How I Met Your Mother. J-Lo guest-starred on the show playing a self-help author who writes books about how women can train men. Lopez, who appeared in a string of sexy outfits, tries to help 'break' Barney, played by Neil Patrick Harris, before he stands her up on a date. The singer guest-starred on the show just a week after country singer Carrie Underwood.

Out for a little pre-weekend pampering, Jennifer Lopez was spotted making her way around Los Angeles, California on Friday afternoon (March 5). Being helped out by her trusty security staffer, the “El Cantante” cutie looked lovely in a bright yellow dress as she stopped by the popular Anastasia Beverly Hills Salon.

The sighting comes as Miss Lopez, 40, gears up for the airing of her guest starring role on the hit CBS show “How I Met Your Mother”. Set to hit TVs on Monday, March 8 at 8PM, Jennifer plays “a femme fatale at the local bar who trades barbs and dirty talk with Barney,” the character played by show regular Neil Patrick Harris.

J.Lo will play a woman who seduces Barney in an attempt to teach the notorious Lothario a lesson by holding out on physical affection. Neil Patrick Harris's character seems up to the challenge! But we'll have to watch the whole episode on Monday, March 8th, to see who wins the war of wills.

CBS has provided more sneak peek at Jennifer Lopez's guest stint on "How I Met Your Mother" through a video preview. The video compiles some of the scenes between the songstress' Anita and Neil Patrick Harris' Barney and captures how she plays "hard to get" with him, making him fall for her literally.

In the episode to be aired March 8 on CBS, the 40-year-old singer will be seen attempting to "tame" Barney after Robin tells her how he acts toward women. Her character is been described as "a no-nonsense author of self-help books that teach women how to train men into relationship machines through the power of denial".

Jennifer Lopez has shot her cameo appearance for the "Of Course" episode in early February. Sharing his fun experience shooting with the "Louboutins" singer, series regular Neil Patrick Harris tweeted, "Jennifer Lopez was really great - hot, cool, and funny. And well prepared! She gave me a few pointers."

Jennifer Lopez has left her record label, Sony's Epic Records, after 11 years. The singer/actress parted ways with Sony thanks to a mutual agreement with the company's chairman, Rob Stringer.

"Jennifer had a wonderful relationship with the Sony Music group, and they have shared many successes together, but the time was right to make a change that best serves the direction her career as an actress and recording artist," said Lopez's manager, Benny Medina. "She is grateful and appreciative to everyone Sony for all that they accomplished together."

Just days after rumors swirled that Jennifer Lopez was being released from her Sony Music/Epic Records recording contract, she’s going on record about the situation.

Through a statement released today (February 24), Jennifer confirms the reports, calling the split a mutual decision between both parties. “I am making this statement to put an end to any confusion in regards to my next album, titled ‘Love?’

I have belonged to the Sony family since the beginning of my career as a singer and together we’ve had great success,” the statement read. “I have fulfilled my contractual responsibilities with Sony/Epic up to this point, and we have both reached friendly terms about my departure from the label.”

Jennifer’s statement also confirms reports that she is already signed to a new label, though she did not mention which one. It’s rumored Jenny is making Island Def Jam her new recording home.
