Jennifer Lopez Closer Deal With American Idol:  According to reports from TMZ, Jennifer Lopez is one step closer to signing a deal with Fox and American Idol (Fox 13 in Memphis). Allegedly, Lopez is finalizing negotiations with American Idol to fill the vacant seat of former judge, Simon Cowell or Ellen DeGeneres' spot -- we may know soon.

This rumor has been going on all summer so it may be coming true. One source close to the deal of the century is claiming, "It's been typical negotiating."Everyone from crooner Harry Connick Jr to rocker Steven Tyler and Mariah Carey have been rumored to be the next judges' on American Idol, but none has been as talked about as Lopez.

A report last month claimed American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi had been trying to quit the hit TV show for months.  

She desperately wanted out. Others claimed she was fired. A friend spilled these details earlier: "She went to FOX two months ago and told them she didn't want to do another season. She did two years and thinks that's enough," an insider told E!Television. However, DioGuardi remained under contract to the show until recently. Now she has parted ways with the show and is free to look for another job.

Jennifer Lopez In American Idol: Jennifer Lopez is just days away from signing a contract to become a judge on American Idol, according to reports.

The star impressed bosses when she mentored Idol contestants back in 2007 and now a deal to join the panel could be “inked as early as next week” said TMZ, contrasting reports last month that American Idol bosses had withdrawn from negotiations due to J-Lo’s excessive demands.

After weeks of speculation, Kara DioGuardi has announced she is leaving the programme, amid rumours she was sacked to make way for the Jenny From The Block singer.

The actor/singers, both born in the U.S. to Puerto Rican parents, want to build a hi-tech soundstage in the city of Fajardo and attract big budget TV and movie productions to the Caribbean resort.
