Jennifer Lopez: Romance?

Jennifer Lopez RomanceSo, if 'Love?' was put before the judging panel, would JLo's talent get her through to the next round? 'On The Floor' opens the album; an uplifting track with a great bass line guaranteed to get your feet moving.  Although the 'Lambada' is an odd choice of sample, Lopez makes it work well - well, the Lambada is a dance track after all.  A really catchy song and definitely one that grows on you, and with featured vocals from Pitbull, the song has a definite edge.

It's a good introduction to the rest of the album, which is full of dance-floor fillers and sing-a-long hooks.  'I'm Into You' has a dancehall feel, whilst '(What Is) Love?' is an insight into JLo's love life, with the singer admitting that she's dated "church boys" and that "musicians are the worst".

'Run The World' is a romantic ode to her other half, and 'Papi' is a dance themed dedication to men everywhere, with Jen encouraging ladies to show off their affections by getting on the dance floor.

It's clear that Jennifer Lopez has finally reached a point in her life where she feels comfortable and where things are working out for her.  After some very high profile relationships (including romances with P Diddy and Ben Affleck), the actress-turned-singer seems to have settled into her third marriage.

'Love?' is evidently about this new phase of her life and the way she feels about her husband and children.  Though a lot of the songs are a little gushing, Lopez manages to convey these messages within stylish songs that disguise some of the more romantic themes, and ultimately, make you want to dance.

On the whole, the album is very listenable - but there are a couple of stand-out tracks, including 'On The Floor' and the aptly named 'Good Hit', which is certainly single material.  Moving away from her RnB roots, 'Love?' is more dance-focused both in lyrical content and sound, and JLo achieves her aim of encouraging people to get moving.

Jen has produced a record which is a lot more commercial and current than some of her previous releases - and it's one that will certainly go down well before her most critical judges - her fans.
