Page Six is reporting that Jennifer Lopez is close to signing a deal to return for a second boffo season of “American Idol” and that fellow judge Steven Tyler isn’t happy about it. It’s not, apparently, that Tyler has anything against J. Lo per se.

It’s the money. Page Six, channeling Freud, as is its wont, calls it “Idol Envy.”Seems that Lopez’s deal will be worth $20 million for one season. Tyler is locked into a two-year contract worth about $10 million per annum, the website says. "Steven is halfway through a two-year deal, and his management has asked for more money," an unnamed source tells the site.
"They argue he was just as sensational and as popular on the panel as Jennifer. But, on the other side, show bosses argue he's tied into a deal and has to stick to it. However, it's hoped they can come to a compromise to keep Steven happy, because the producers love him."No word on whether Randy Jackson is having a conniption, but he’s supposedly committed to returning.
