Jennifer Lopez is having a very difficult time sharing custody of twins Max and Emme with their dad Marc Anthony. It's not that they don't love their dad or that Jennifer doesn't want them to spend time with him, it's just very difficult for her to be away from them at all.
According to a report from OK Magazine, JLo was spotted having what is described as a "Mommy breakdown" on the balcony of her Miami hotel recently. She relayed the incident to The Today Show's Matt Lauer.
"I spoke to my daughter yesterday on the balcony and I shed a tear," she said. "I miss her so much."The singer and American Idol judge has lots of irons in the proverbial fire right now, and while that may have helped her initially when she and Marc Anthony split, it seems as if it's causing her some angst at the moment. In addition to her singing career, endorsements, American Idol and Q'Viva!—the new show she films with her ex—it seems like Jennifer Lopez may be spreading herself a bit too thin. And in the midst of all that, she wants to be with her children.
"She can't stand being away from her kids," a source explains. "She hates that she can't be there for them every moment anymore, and she's blaming herself for that. It's not that the twins don't love their dad, but they are both very attached to Jennifer—especially Emme. She's a real mommy's girl."
Meanwhile JLo has taken up with a much younger man—often referred to as her "boy toy." Casper Smart seems to have a good rapport with her children, but in many ways is still a kid himself at just 24.
Might this mini "Mommy breakdown" cause Jennifer Lopez to rethink her priorities? It must be devastating to be in Miami when your children are in New York. But is it devastating enough to make her do something about it?
Probably not. These celebrities are all about marketing their brand. They realize they only have so much of a life span in which to market themselves as singers, actors, or whatever they may be, and then their time in the public eye could be up.
On the other hand, it's imperative to realize that children grow up really quickly, and by the time JLo is ready to cut back on her career, those kids will be off living lives of their own.
It's certainly a dilemma most parents face, but not typically to the level that someone like Jennifer Lopez faces it. It seems the choices are perfectly clear—don't you think? She either needs to cut a few things out and be more readily available to her children, or deal with the occasional "Mommy breakdown."
